Women from different generations reflect on the challenges and trajectories of Taiwan’s independence movement across time, creating a sense of collision and dialogue between generations of lived experience and historical memory.
The background is composed of layered greens and greys in varying tones, forming shapes reminiscent of book pages. These colors are freely overlaid, enveloping the black that symbolizes the Martial Law era—suggesting how later generations reinterpret, surround, and respond to that period of repression.
As time evolves, Taiwan’s image has taken on different forms in the minds of different generations. The loosely drawn, almost unreal lines—three or four strokes in total—represent a collective impression of Taiwan, written together by activists from different eras. They capture not a single definitive image, but a shared yet fragmented memory shaped by time, struggle, and generational perspective.
